About the Job

Under the direction of the Housing Custodial Services Manager the Housing Custodial Supervisor directly manages all phases of the Housing Custodial operations across all shifts to ensure campus facilities are kept in a clean and sanitary condition by providing direction and guidance to a Housing Custodial staff. Analyzes and resolves problems on site and administers and follows policies and contract agreements as required.

Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Supervises staff to ensure accountability and stewardship of campus operation resources such as equipment, cleaning and chemical supplies are in compliance with departmental goals and objectives.

Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and determines best practice to meet goals. The Housing Custodial Supervisor recommends changes to unit or sub-unit policies that will increase productivity or assist in budgetary goals.


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 3 years of related experience or 7 years of equivalent related experience/training.
1-2 years of lead or supervisory experience, preferred.
On a bi-weekly basis, will work on a Saturday or Sunday to ensure at least twice per month there is supervisory coverage on weekend days.
Require weekends and/or multiple shifts.
Must have valid Class C California Driver's License. Position subject to CA DMV's "Pull Notice System" and an offer of employment is contingent upon a satisfactory driving record.
Employment contingent upon pre-placement physical, including drug/alcohol testing, and background investigation.
Ability to interact and communicate effectively with peers, employees, supervisor and department/UC staff in a courteous and professional manner. Verbal and written communication skills in English, active listening, flexibility, critical thinking, multi-tasking, and time management.
Ability to plan, organize, and direct cleaning schedules and manage all aspects of development of the custodial crew.
Knowledge of correct chemical use and mixture.
Working knowledge in custodial and housekeeping services.
Working knowledge and skill in effective interpersonal and work leadership skills to provide guidance to other personnel.
Effectively communicates orally and in writing.
Knowledge of general custodial duties.
Must have excellent communication and presentation skills when dealing with campus community or outside clients.
